<div><strong><span style="font-family: Helvetica;">At our August 26 meeting our speaker will be Craig  Fry. </span><span style="font-family: Helvetica;">Craig</span><span style="font-family: Helvetica;"> has been growing cacti and succulents for over 20 years, and has  specialized in growing rare and difficult plants. He and his wife Denise, now  have a collection of over 3000 species and varieties of almost every type of  succulent, consisting of mostly small and slow growing collector type plants.  They grow many from seed, and sell plants and top dressings under the name &#8220;C  and D Plants&#8221; and just started a new web site “<a href="http://canddplants.com/" target="_blank">CandDPlants.com</a>”. During the Spring and Fall, they  take numerous camping excursions into the desert for rock hounding,  photographing wildlife, enjoying nature, and sifting  sand.</span></strong></div>

<div><strong><span style="font-family: Helvetica;">Craig has a degree in Biology from UCSB  and works as an Air Pollution  Chemist. He is also well known in the world of Rock and Mountain Climbing and is  the author two Rock Climbing Guide  books for the local climbing areas.</span></strong></div>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>The Orange County Cactus and  Succulent Society&#8217;s Summer Show and Sale is finally here and we hope you will  stop by and vote for your favorite show plants.  We will again have &#8220;The  People&#8217;s Choice Awards&#8221;.  On Saturday, July 24th, the public will be asked to  vote for Best Cactus, Best Succulent, Best Flowers, Best Spines, Best  Collection, Best Staged, Most Colorful, Largest Plant, Most Exotic, and the  &#8220;Bad Hair Day Award&#8221; to add  something fun to the mix.  Local expert Bill Hagblom will give a talk on &#8220;Basic  Cultivation&#8221; each day at 1pm.   Propagation expert Tim Harvey  will also give a talk on Sunday at 2pm where he will cover topics from pests  to fertilizers and how to take care of your plants.  We will have some 20 plus  vendors including 4 potters.  The weather is expected to be in the upper 70&#8217;s to  low 80&#8217;s unlike the 100 degree weather of last weekend.</strong></p>

He will be talking about  his recent trip to Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. An interesting parallel to  South Africa, this primarily  winter rainfall region has a wealth of fascinating plants from bulbs to  cacti.</span></span></span></p>
